General meetings: 3rd Tuesday of the month, 7:00pm - 9:30pm
Sign at the door - $4 members, $8 non-members, life members free entry. Fabulous supper provided. Please bring a name badge and a friend!

Daytime Meetings:
various dates, 10:00am - 3:00pm
Sign at the door - $5 members, $10 non-members. Tea and coffee provided, please bring a name badge and lunch.

Studio Visits:
various dates and times, limited numbers

We welcome everyone to WAFTA meetings and events!
(Sometimes we must limit the number of people attending due to space and safety restrictions, particularly for studio visits. Members are given priority and remaining places are offered to non-members.)

Guest Speaker: Katrina Virgona (with an activity)
Katrina will be demonstrating how to make soft sculpture textile artworks using wire armatures bound in cloth with highly embellished surfaces. Please bring along old wire coathangers, soft wire to bend & hold your chosen shape in place, pliers for cutting/bending, fabric scraps/rags for wrapping the core piece and precious fabrics for the exterior embellishment, needles, pins, scissors and thread. Plan on making a small piece (15cm/6”) if you wish to complete it on the night.

Joyce will be speaking about her fibre journey and how she uses her works to express herself and in turn help others to express themselves through the medium of art. She will show us a simple technique called Tetami. Please bring a length of rope or similar no less than 1 metre. Other materials will be provided.

Judith will speak about her textiles from Africa and also an extensive handkerchief collection. The link is the utilitarian household object.
Susan Hayes is a researcher and will speak about the use of faces in her art and work.
