Welcome to a new year of exciting possibilities and creative potential!

First Members' Meeting 2019

Our first meeting is at 7pm on Tuesday February 19, at Craft House, off Clyde Road in Menora.

A highlight for this meeting will be the opportunity for all members to share work with friends and fellow makers and artists.
Bring your work to display, and there will be time to mingle, examine and chat about the many variations in techniques, styles and interests that members practice.
Be inspired by, or inspire others, at the start of this exciting new year. We would love this to be an opportunity to connect over supper and support each other in creativity.

Our guest speaker for this meeting will be Sophie Mahir, an inspirational speaker and well-known artist promoter. Her personal story and how she has developed a career as an artist, mentor, and business start-up advisor, is fascinating. We think she is just the person to get you motivated for the coming year!

Sophie is the brains behind the Artists Marketing Academy, based in Perth, aimed at all artists and creatives. Read more on the AMA website

First Workshop 2019

Drawn In - Drawn Together: A new workshop with tutor Thelma Cluning

Combining her visual arts classroom experience with personal arts practice, Thelma will explore new approaches to both analytical and expressive drawing, and 'drawing for stitch'.The workshop will include practical drawing experiences, advice on technique and analysis of subject, and design development in textile practice.

Whether you are an intermediate or competent drawer (or sketcher, scribbler, mark maker...!), if you like exploring drawing as a tool for generating ideas, happy to move  the traditional to the fanciful in mark making, then this is the drawing workshop for you.

This will be a fun and sociable environment to develop skills, improve visual awareness and provide resources to apply to your own textiles practice.

If you have friends or family who would also be interested, please do introduce them to WAFTA - why not buy them a membership and workshop as a New Year gift to start their creative year? Register Here
