Jane Milburn Workshop

November 11, 2018

Sometimes we keep clothes because we love the fabric and memories attached but the garments themselves may be too big, too small, dysfunctional, misshapen or out-of-date. This is an introductory upcycling session for beginners or intermediates (advanced welcome). Bring along a few preloved natural-fibre garments/textiles, we discuss options for upcycling. We then make changes within the timeframe and with what is to hand. This session can include mending and embellishing. It can be hand-stitching, or machine sewing (please BYO). Beginner or intermediate skill level– 6 hrs hands-on

What you gain:

  • skills in stitching and upcycling
  • developing resourcefulness and a unique style
  • inspiration to use creative play for wellbeing
  • ways to reduce textile waste
  • immersion in the slow clothing philosophy

What to bring:

  • Several old garments to play with (including a surplus t-shirt)
  • Basic sewing kit (needles, threads, scissors)
  • Sewing machine (if you have one)
  • Some haberdashery items (eg elastic, bias binding, buttons, lace, fabric remnants)

Cost: $150 Full day - BOOK HERE
