Jan Holland

Jan moved from Sydney to Perth in the early 70’s drawn to the beaches, space and light. A wife, mother of two beautiful and talented daughters, grandmother of three equally wonderful grandchildren; classroom educator - Curriculum ICT leader, Professional Support, Policy developer & Research Analyst, Jan retired to her art.

She nurtured her early love of textiles. As an apprentice dressmaker Jan refined stitching techniques on beautiful fabrics. Studying a textiles B.Ed major with the late Elsje van Keppel moved Jan into contemporary textiles work. Perth artists, Jan Mullen and Michele Eastwood inspired Jan’s contemporary quilting and surface design. Jan works in whites and loves contrasting heavy with light fabrics and softness with strength. Influences include Jan’s matriarchal heritage, her love of the beach and Japanese couture.
