A Royal Thank You
WAFTA has excelled itself so well this past week in the Hall of Fame. Thank you to the Royal Agricultural Society and especially Janice Davidson and Theresa for the
opportunity to introduce WAFTA to a wider public. People were engaged with Gail Hawes' amazing Chinese embroidered textile collection especially the Chinese residents unaware of their textile history. Tania Spencer's fantastic installation at the front of the building on the lawn certainly attracted attention.
Altered States engaged a varied audience who marvelled at the creativity and imagination of our members, not to mention Meagan Howes' Wearable Art garment 'Mourning Birds'. It created discussions and comments. To the artists Julia Andrijasevich, Delys Brady, Philomena Hali, Kate Weedon-Jones, Mariana Kirova, Lorelie Smit, Linda Stokes and Anne Williams for your beautiful wares that filled our Gallery Shop.
A very sincere thank you to Gail Hawes for setting up the contact and her tireless energy and enthusiasm throughout the week. Pauline White for her installation curation sometimes under very awkward moments.
To our enthusiastic Demonstrators Pauline White, Mariana Kirova, Sharon Bergman, Jo Franco, Anne Williams, Julia Andrijasevich, Tania Spencer, Peta Korb and Margaret Ford who were happy to stay on for the full day. The response was enthusiastic and of genuine interest.
To our Band of Sitters: Jill Johnston, Janet West, Tracy Destree, Thelma Cluning, Kate Weedon-Jones, Iris Whitelock, Wendy Lugg, Jan Campbell, Jo Franco, Philomena Hali, Ileana Ashforth, Sheryl Chant, Gill Baxter, Sue Sacchero, Judy Campbell, Marie Mitchell, Penny Reinecke, Rachel Lang, Pauline O'Brien, Jane Stone, Jaye Quin, Jo Court, Mariana Kirova, Elsie Payne and Frances Jelovsek. We could not have got through the days without you and your enthusiasm and willingness to explain The Challenge over and over again!
To our 'Man in the Van' Robert Hawes and Monday muscle Keith Binns for your talents and super patience with two 'hyper' wives throughout the week.
It was a week enjoyed not only by the Governor The Hon Kim Beazley, the President and members of the RAS but 3,408 members of the general public.
Well done Everyone!
